New eBook: iPad Content Creation Awesomeness
Coming soon! I'm working on an eBook filled with ideas for both teachers and students for creating content with the iPad. You'll receive first notification as soon as it is published if you fill out this form. Your email will only be used to notify you of the free download and for nothing else.
Yes! I am the Mean, Evil, Step Teacher.
I jokingly gave myself this moniker one day in class and it stuck. Why you ask? Because it's true. I'm not mean and evil to my students, but to the obstacles I aim to help them conquer and vanquish. My students have no bottoms left by the end of the year because they have worked them off... and have done so happily. Nelson Mandela said that to be effective as a leader, you have to lead from behind. I truly believe this, especially as an educator. Give students the necessary foundational knowledge, ignite their imaginations and creativity, then get out of the way. You'll be surprised what they do, but most importantly, they will blow their own minds! A teacher's job is to get her students to accomplish more than they ever dreamed they could, and that is just what I intend to do.
For the 2014-15 School year, I have moved into a new position, Technology Integration Specialist and Curriculum Support. I find this exciting because I will still be working hands on with students while providing my fellow teachers with on-the-spot professional development training. I'll also have time to lead planning curriculum units/projects and pilot new initiatives. It's all about innovation, taking risks, and pushing ourselves to fail forward. Woo hoo! I am excited and so are the other wonderful teachers with whom I work.
